CANALINAINFINITY is advanced waterproofing system for linear drainage of surface water. They are designed to be used used in tiled structures, outdoor and indoor.
The system is made of Polypropylene (PP) and is composed of 1,50 meter long combinable channels with lateral or central run-off pipes.
The section and the internal slope of the CANALINAINFINITY drainage channels enhance the flow velocity of water and the resulting self-cleaning force, in order to avoid the accumulation of debris at the bottom of the channel.
The materials used and the construction design allow the channel to be very lightweight, with all the logistical advantages that this entails. The channels feature an internal slope, so the elements can be laid flat, improving and facilitating the operations required to put it into service.
Perimetrically aligned to the channel body there is a fin covered with felted fabric that allows the attachment of the insulation in thin-bed installations. The channel frames, as well as those on special pieces are made of stainless steel AISI 316L.
The systems are equipped with perfectly compatible special parts such as run-off pipes, end pieces, grids in stainless steel AISI 304, and waterproofing accessories. Important Note: on request, the grids can be supplied in stainless steel AISI 316L.
The channels can be easily accessed, inspected and cleaned.

mounting
The mounting and installation instructions detailed in the following “Technical Data Sheet” are provided exclusively as examples to allow the final installer to follow the best recommendations for installation. Special mountings or special needs should be evaluated by Malagrida Group s.r.l. in accordance with the designer. Running a successful commissioning of the system is necessary to ensure the system (channel-grid) a longer life and a better water flow.
Step 1
Check that the lip-round seals are placed in their housing at the ends of the channel and are not deformed.
Step 2
Assemble the channels after having lubricated the male joint with the approved lubricant, ensuring to put the flat seal between the channels. The flat seal has to adhere perfectly with the mounting flange of the channels. Position the galvanized iron connecting plates outside the mounting flange of the channels, and fasten the channels with the screws and bolts provided, making sure of tightening the bolt using a “criss-cross” sequence, without tightening too much to avoid spilling the flat seal. This incorrect fastening can compromise the waterproofing of the system. To make the assembly easier, we suggest to undertake the above mentioned phases of assembly with the channels upside down. It is recommended to perform the assembly on flat surfaces. To complete the assembly with elements like the end caps and the drain terminals carefully repeat Phases 1-2.
Step 3
Put the channel into the position of use. Important Note: If the channel is more than 3 meters long, more installers are required in order to avoid any abnormal twists to the channel. Lay the channel at the project height and make the screed with the grid already mounted. Note: use only pipes with o-rings seal. Once the previous steps have been carried out correctly, we recommend to flood the channel system to check its waterproofing.
Step 4
Run structural fluid cement mortar along the canal’s formwork or trunk (as shown in the diagram) with a minimum thickness of 5cm along the sides of the felted fins, making sure to evenly spread the cement on the outside in the same manner. Please note: The step described above must be carried out once the grid has been installed. This operation is vital because it prevents the canal from expanding during freezing and thawing cycles (temperature changes).
Step 5
Connect the channel with the drainage system (with the proper size and slope). Please note: Use only pipes with o-rings waterproof seal.
Step 6
Build the screed up to the cemented formwork or trunk, careful not to ruin the fabric present on it because it can lower the subsequent effectiveness of the waterproofing of the system. We recommend protecting the fabric. Any waterproofing must be carried out by applying the felted fin following the instructions supplied by the manufacturer of the waterproofing system. It is necessary, however, in order to connect the waterproofing system and the channel, to apply the strip junction (ARTICLE INF/BAND) listed in the catalogue/price list.
Step 7
Proceed with timing, considering that the tiles once installed are 1 mm. higher than the stainless steel frame (grating and channel). Note: the use of an expansion joint is advisable between the channel and the floor. Inside the tillable stainless steel grating we suggest to apply a silicon seal between tiles and stainless steel.
The company assumes no liability resulting from the improper assembly or installation of the Infinity and Tecnochannel channels.
laying instructions
The mounting and installation instructions detailed in the following “Technical Data Sheet” are provided exclusively as examples to allow the final installer to follow the best recommendations for installation. laying patterns
To correctly use the examples of laying patterns shown below, it is advisable to follow these simple tips as it will be much easier to find the right article and size for your work.
- Identify the Infinity linear channel meters you need for your work.
- Identify the position of the drain points and the diameter offered by your balconies / terraces / paving / penthouses, etc. to be able to slope the channel towards them making you help from the dotted line on the drawings of the diagrams.
- Choose the Infinity duct that is most suitable for your work taking into consideration points 1 and 2.
use and maintenance
- Please follow the instructions for installation contained in this catalogue.
- The product and its use are designed for domestic use. For other applications or special conditions check with the Malagrida technical department or your specifier.
- The system supports the use of running hot water only for short periods and for temperatures not exceeding 90°C.
- Do not use chemical cleaners to remove possible deposits inside the channel.
- The stainless steel surfaces must be maintained and cleaned following standard stainless steel careindications. Do not use cleaning products containing hydrochloric acid and hydrofluoric acid. Do not clean with spatulas or steel wool. The system is suitable for waterproofing with liquid primers or insulation compounds for thinbed installations.
- Infinity system should be scaled according to the total area of drainage.
- The channel must be periodically cleaned to prevent dirt deposit.
- It is made of plastic (ABS) and therefore sensitive to certain petrol by-products.

Specification Item and Technical Drawing
Supply and installation of “Tecnochannel” waterproof double slit drainage channel. (Art. TCN/C150, TCN/C300). The channel is made of Polypropylene (PP). Minimum thickness 3 mm, standard height 8.5 cm with internal slope and infinitely modular. The body of the channel is reinforced by fins, both longitudinally and transversely, which give it rigidity and strength, while peripherally, on the outer top, it is equipped with a felted fabric permitting the mechanical attachment of the waterproofing system. Please note: To perform the connection between the waterproofing system and the channel follow the manufacturer’s instructions of waterproofing products and always use the junction strip (art. INF / BAND12). The tileable type grid in the upper part is provided with a felted fabric that allows the mechanical attachment of the tile using commercially available adhesives.
Please note: Follow adhesive manufacturer’s directions in order to use the correct adhesive. The channel-grid system presents two drain slits sized in mm 8 mm, and it is provided with drain terminals (Art. TCN/50A, TCN/50B, TCN/SD50) and end pieces (TCN/T100) compatible with the channel by means of a male/female coupling equipped with lip seal and through a mechanical flange equipped with an additional flat silicone seal, reinforcement plates, screws and bolts.
